Installation

Installation starts by unpacking the equipment and the goal is connected, tested and marked system.

Customer should provide:

  • premises for installation, according to conditions defined in system documentation,
  • working conditions for installation experts - entrance to installation premises.

GVS offers training courses for the customers preferring to the do the installation themselves and for engineering companies interested to include installation of GVS products in their commercial offer. After attending the course, trainees are capable to successfully complete the installation process and related activities.

If system installation is performed by the customer or third party, GVS offers technical support through consulting, participating in the installation team or technical surveillance of installation works.

Installation process includes several steps:

  • placement of the equipment according to the floor plan
  • interconnecting system blocks and connecting the system to the environment
  • installation testing
  • marking
  • checking the quality of the installation works

Equipment placement

Equipment placement includes:

  • placing the self-standing blocks according to floor-plan,
  • placing equipment for operator workplaces on the desks,
  • fixing the wall-mounting blocks to the wall(s),
  • arranging the spare parts and accessories into the appropriate cabinets or shelves.

Connecting

System blocks fixed in racks are interconnected with factory-prepared cables, power or signal cables. These cables are factory tested and marked during preinstallation process and their route through the racks is known. Slightly different situation is with operators workplaces equipment. Power and signal cabling is also performed, but the cables are produced on-site, not during preinstallation.

Connecting the system with the surrounding equipment may be done with factory prepared cables or on-site.

Installation testing

Installation testing includes complete functional testing of the system and all system blocks. The goal of installation testing is to check that installed system is fully operational and ready to perform all necessary functions. During installation testing system is not site-programmed, that part is done with the works on putting the system into operation. Successful installation test confirms that the system is ready to be programmed for the operation on any location in the network, because the system can be moved to other location.

Marking

There are cases when system marking that can't be completely prepared during preinstallation. Marking is performed at the end of installation process because all the equipment is in place and connected. Interconnections are factory-marked, according to GVS marking system. During installation process, primarily connections with the environment are marked. All customer requests for marking are taken into consideration, and if there are not any, default marking will be done.

Quality assurance

Since the system is completely tested during installation test, including functional testing and measurement of electrical characteristics, quality assurance can focus on checking the quality of the installation works.
